WELCOME TO THE WEXFORD COUNTY HISTORICAL
SOCIETY PHOTO GALLERIES

Among the WCHS’s collections are several hundred images of historical significance that have been scanned from photos taken from the early 1870’s to modern times with a major emphasis on pre-1920 scenes. They have been sorted into twenty thematic groupings for ease of navigation through this site.

While every reasonable attempt has been made to determine the accuracy of the descriptions of these images, mistakes can occur. In all cases, however, the scenes will represent the living, working, natural, and structural features of the period. This is a continuing process as new images are entered and existing ones are updated frequently. While many images are of poor quality they have been retained on the site because of their historical importance.

You may download images from this website for your personal use. Please consider a small donation if you choose this option (See following paragraph). Some prints are for sale at the museum. Also, we welcome your photos with descriptions, preferably pre-1960 scenes that are historically significant. If you wish to retain your originals, please bring them to the museum where they will be scanned for you within a few days.

The WCHS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, committed to the preservation and presentation of the history and culture of Wexford County. Our funding is dependent on contributions and membership dues, and we greatly appreciate donations for this image sharing service as well as other WCHS programs. INSTRUCTIONS FOR NAVIGATING THE PHOTO GALLERIES

Find your preferred Gallery and click on the index icon to view all images in that category. Click on any icon within the selected category to view an enlarged image and the description. Click again for a larger and improved image or to download. Click on "Next" to navigate the Gallery. Scroll down the Gallery to select specific scenes. Click on “Close” to exit the Gallery.
